Three Words Never Spoken

By donnycdavied

Three Words Never Spoken

Your saber tooth sharp as knife

Is what keeps me by your side.

Your ruthless regard for others

And lack of empathy

Makes me blind

When others can see

You are quite scary.

Meaningless revenge in your heart -

Displaced anger

How I wished you could forget your past

Oh, if only I could part

But scared I am towards your

hands.

No more do I want that slap

Cannot bear feeling your touch.

Never the words

I love so much

Will be spoken by me,

Not just to you

But to all my future

Abusers,

Yes, I’m tired of going out

With losers

because once in

Its hard to get out.

Spun in your web of deceit

You pull out your best intrigue

Never do we see it coming.

Then we find ourselves in a mess.

A surprise trait you reveal

When it’s too late

For people like me

To change our mind.

See,

We don’t want to leave

Cause we’ve been convinced

No one else will take us in.

Thus,

Mission accomplished,

We no longer believe

And cannot see a way out,

But there’ll be a day -

Wait and see

I swear

when I gain the courage,

a day when I muster up the strength

to be at my best.

Men like you are everywhere.

I now know your untruths

And when compared

A single life to pursue

Would be better

And come with less hurt.

I’ll make my move

The next time you reach out

To slap.

I’ll have a surprise trait revealed;

You’ll apologize to not just me

But the others.

You may have larger hands

More strength and a man -

According to you

But I got a gun!

So —-you!

This poem idea started after hearing about Rihanna’s alleged abuse. I have a zero tolerance for wife or any type of abusers.
This is a poem reflecting what women go through in abusive relationships in that it is hard to leave and hard to stay. External forces sometimes control the victim’s choices and for each victim the external forces can be different. Noteworthy to mention, only the abused and tormented can speak to this; only they know; therefore, this poem is fictional. It speaks to the psychological torment and fear, which forces some to stay, while still fearing leaving the abuser and living alone.
